The torture continues Wednesday Season 2.
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) has been put through the wringer. She’s been stalked by a bloodthirsty monster. Her Rave’N gown was ruined by red paint. (The normies couldn’t even spring for real blood?) And she’s had to brave the scariest threat of all: other teens. But things are looking up for Nevermore Academy’s most popular goth. Wednesday has officially been renewed for Season 2.
“We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” Wednesday Season 1 co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough exclusively tell Tudum. “We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”
The renewal news comes with a video announcement promising more “torture” ahead for Wednesday in Season 2. Naturally, the amateur detective and mystery writer wouldn’t have it any other way.
“[Wednesday] sticks to her guns, and she’s not out to please anybody,” Ortega tells Tudum. “Which, as someone who used to be an immense people pleaser, I really respect.”
The Wednesday Soundtrack is No. 1
It’s clear Ortega isn’t the only one who’s come to admire Wednesday’s teenage take on the Addams family’s only daughter. The series broke the Netflix record for most hours viewed in a single week… twice. In the first week, it raked in 341.23 million hours viewed; in its second, 411.29 million hours viewed. And, although Wednesday herself loathes social media (or anything social, really), #WednesdayAddams is a star on TikTok and has amassed over 22 billion views — with millions of TikTokkers looking to replicate that “just-bitten” makeup look. Even Lady Gaga couldn’t deny the pull of Wednesday, posting her own version of the trendy “Blood Mary” dance. But that’s not the only music sensation the show’s responsible for — the Wednesday soundtrack is No. 1 on the iTunes Soundtrack chart. That’s Wednesday: always an overachiever.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that’s connected with people across the world,” Millar and Gough add. “We’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s torturous journey into Season 2.”
Although fans have already seen their favorite new young detective take down one big bad, she’s poised to meet her fair share of adversaries come Season 2.
🤐 SPOILER ALERT 🤐
As the final moments of the Season 1 finale reveal, the Hyde is still out there (whether they’re in police custody or not). There’s also a stalker apparently running around Nevermore: In the Season 1 finale, Wednesday receives threatening texts and creepy photos from an unknown number.
“[The stalker proves] that threats remain out there… to both Wednesday and the school,” Millar says. “Not all not loose ends have been tied up neatly as she thinks they have.”
Wednesday may not be prone to smiling. But even she might break into the smallest grin over the promise of a new spooky case to crack.
More details about Wednesday Season 2 — from casting info to plot secrets — are still to come. So keep coming back to Tudum for more of the snappiest news around.
